MUALLEM

“While patience is a virtue, sadly it won’t get you very far in the music industry. Fortunately for genre-hopping dance producer MUALLEM, standing still has never been a problem”, titled IDJ-Magazine in June 2006. “I absorb my creativity and the energy I push into my music through the patience I seek in everyday life. I used to incorporate a lot of thoughts that weren’t exclusively mine into my very own thinking-process when I was younger and realized that it simply doesn’t make you entirely happy and comfortable with what you are actually doing. The independence I gained from that conclusion made me quite calm and satisfied, leading to a straightforward and honest interpretation of my perception of culture” For him, his output has to be an undisturbed translation from impression to expression.

David Muallem is a man of diverse interests when it comes to culture in general and contemporary culture in particular. His doorway into those realms where paved by his early encounters with music, which still is his main focus of attention while he insists that his productivity merely reflects a slice of some wider, overall notion.

David grew up in MUNICH and was affected early on by its nightlife and club culture. He strongly followed the ongoing process of the development of music, the continuously new emergence of “lifestyles” and was always deeply interested in their history as well as past developments. In 1995 he ventured into record production and DJing and released on COMPOST RECORDS using the FORCE name while starting to get international credit for his DJ skills. In 1999 he followed his urge to broaden his inspirational horizon and decided to move to TEL AVIV. He assisted in the musical direction of a festival produced by HEINEKEN and continued in music production. In 2000 he moved on to London in search of significant cultural melting pots. There he studied Computer Science as well as Media and Communications and recorded his debut album “FRANKIE SPLITS” which featured diverse guest appearances like SHAWN LEE, BEANS, LYRICS BORN to name a few. By the same time he decided to spend time in NEW YORK CITY and worked for the production of his highly acclaimed MUTATION series that included remix artists such as THE GLIMMER TWINS, EMPEROR MACHINE, PHREEK PLUS ONE or NICK CHACONA. In 2007, having moved back to MUNICH, he started his HOUSEWORX series on BLACKLABEL and works on a new album. Moreover he started to run club nights such as his newly founded SOUNDBOX event to share his vision of contemporary club culture with a strong focus on HOUSE/TECHNO music.

In 2008 MUALLEM is in demand as an international DJ and his productions are in featured in diverse fields. Upcoming projects include further releases on BLACKLABEL, as well as new remixes.
